May 23, 2000. EYHKC member and instructor Gordon Nore has been teaching after-four karate classes at several schools in the East York area since 1999. Here are some photos from his last class for the Spring session of 2000 at Crescentown School. Mr Nore and the kids put on a demonstration for parents and school staff. Fellow instructor Brad Reed and Sensei Tony Foster also came out to help. You can click the smaller images to view larger ones. Please use the "back" button of your browser to return.

The highlight of the event was a visit from James Mathews. Mr Mathews (centre) was one of the instructors at United Hapkido-Karate Club (the forerunner to EYHKC), where Senseis Tony Foster and his brother John first trained. cts2.jpg

cts1.jpg Mr Nore explains the basics of the senkutsu dachi, or "forward stance." These demonstrations are a great opportunity to raise awareness about martial arts. About forty parents, school staff, and pupils were in attendance.
