June 7, 2001. Mutiny at the East York Community Centre dojo! These are the only words to describe what happened when the kids' class challenged Sensei John Foster for leadership of the dojo. The challenge against Mr Foster's leadership of the dojo began benignly enough. The kyus sent their smallest fighters first.

Mr Foster bore the attacks well, not wanting to use his superior martial arts abilities against such young students.

At first, it looked like Mr Foster would prevail. The no-kicks-below-the-belt rule might be his salvation against the ferocious onslaught.

But, gradually, he was worn down. Sensei was no match for the lightning kicks.

In desperation, Mr Foster resorts to choking his opponents.

When that fails, John -- eyes red with rage -- attempts the most secret of techniques in our Hapkido-Karate system, the feared Ninja-ponytail-pull.

But he is too late. A yellow belt takes him down. Sensei tries to hide his shame by smiling, but the redness of his face tells another tale.

Nearing the end of the battle, Mr Foster rallies, as he sees he only has the white belts to conquer.

Again, Sensei has underestimated his opponent. Our new Sensei stands over Mr Foster's broken body.
