July 1, 1997. Every year we give a demonstration on the main stage at the East York
Canada Day celebration at Stan Wadlow Park, in East York. This event was special for East Yorkers, as it was the last Canada Day Celebration of the former Borough of East York, which was amalgamated into the new City of Toronto in 1997. You can click the smaller

Gordon Nore, Tucker, Sensei John Foster (background), and Joseph demonstrate front thrust kicks.
Sensei Tony Foster (in white and red) applies pressure to brother John's elbow. (John's elbow is just above his head with his forearm against the matts.) Notice how John arches his back and lifts his right leg to mitigate the pain.

A great side-kick! John's planted leg is bent, giving him greater hip control more power. Tony's front leg is straightened, indicating his weight has been shifted backwards by the impact.
A great roundhouse kick! Notice the shield is still bent as John reloads his kick.
A great thrust kick! Again, John's planted leg is bent, and his hip is extended forward into the target. You can tell by the look on Tony's face that he felt this one!
